It's officially here. The boxes of biscuits are out (anyone else already onto their second box of Fox's? No?). The hot chocolate is flowing and Mariah Carey is singing everywhere you go. It's basically Christmas, which means it's also party season. I'm not a massive going out person, but I have to say, I love party season. It's a great excuse to get all sparkly and catch up with some old friends over a mulled wine or two. So today, I'm talking you through some beauty bits to see you through. These bits of makeup are perfect for nights out, with extra sparkle, drama, and a hell of a lot of staying power.
On the lash front, I know a lot of people opt for false lashes for a night out, but I'm just not a fan. They're too much effort! Luckily, the Marc Jacobs velvet noir mascara* really packs a punch. This here is just one quick coat, so imagine the volume another coat would bring. Despite it being quite a thick formula, this mascara works just as well on the bottom lashes as it does the top, so no need to carry your entire makeup bag to the bar!
Of course it's not just your eye makeup that needs to be strong this party season, but your highlight has to be just as sparkly as your sequinned outfit, with a strong contour to match. The perfect palette for that is the Pixi strobe and bronze palette*, with three contour and three highlight shades. I tend to use the light pink highlight on my pale skin, but there are some beautiful golds in there too that would look beautiful on darker skin tones. The contour is also pretty versatile, but if you have a deep and rich skin tone, you may have to swatch this first.
Finally, onto the lips. With all that sipping on mulled wine, you'll need a lip product that's going to last the whole night. If you ask me, there's nothing better than Kat Von D's everlasting liquid lipstick, which I've patted on in the shade Bow and Arrow over Charlotte Tilbury's Pillow Talk liner, then decorated with a smidge of the shimmers from the Pixi eyeshadow palette I mentioned earlier. I've seen the metallic lip trend all over Instagram, but didn't have the budget to invest in a new metallic lipstick, so did a DIY version. It looks good, don't you think?
