If you're like me, when spring turns to summer, you start to panic. Things get sweaty and you have to shave your legs more often, which let's face it, is a bit of a headache. Every summer I look into my wardrobe and think "oh shit", faced with the same pair of uncomfortable denim shorts, the few odd dresses I don't really like and a pair of sandals I'd rather not wear. But in 2017, I'm determined to conquer summer fashion. We've had one actual warm day (which is when these pictures were taken) and slowly but surely I'm building up my portfolio of summer outfit ideas for 2017. We can do this guys. Sweaty and uncomfortable no more.
A few weeks ago I picked up this bardot gingham crop top in Urban Outfitters, it was more than I'd usually spend on a top, granted, but I was in one of those spendy moods. I thought the print would be perfect for summer, with gingham being one of the biggest summer trends for 2017. I did another 2017 trends post too by the way, so make sure to have a read whilst you're here. Whilst it's not quite crop top weather yet, I thought this gingham would look really cute layered over a plain white t-shirt, paired with classic blue jeans. And yep, these are my faithful ASOS farleigh jeans. I don't know what it is, but gingham and blue denim just feels like a classic combination, doesn't it? It's like I'm a walking picnic blanket on dress down Friday.
Layering is a classic style tip for transitioning seasons, but sometimes it's not all that easy to get the right combination. When I was in Tokyo last September, almost every girl in Harajuku was layering silky camis over plain t-shirts, paired with culottes and trainers or sandals - I was obsessed. If you want to see more of my Tokyo trip, don't forget to take a look at my Tokyo photo diary, there is some Harajuku streetstyle in there somewhere.

Gingham might be my favourite trend of summer 2017, it's everywhere on the highstreet at the minute, and I'm bloody loving it. Mum's even making me a red gingham smock dress at the minute and I can't wait until it's finished! I'll be sure to show you on my Instagram as soon as it's ready, and no doubt I'll be styling it on the blog soon enough, so make sure you're following Tie Dye Eyes Liverpool fashion blog on Bloglovin' to see it first!
Good vibes guys ✌
